Here at A Slade & Son, we are an independent family funeral directors and have partnered with Golden Charter to offer our funeral plans. Why? Because by law any funeral plan money must be held in Trust Fund. We are too small to run and administer a trust fund and so we have teamed up with what we feel is your best option (and ours).
You would contact us by either phone, email or COVID allowing, pop in and we would let you have a Golden Charter pack for you to go through at your leisure.
Then should you wish, we would arrange for a meeting to go through things and discuss the finer details. We always suggest that ideally two or more people should be at this meeting. Once satisfied with the arrangements for the plan, we suggest you go away and think on things and discuss it with your children or the rest of the family. When we discuss things there is NO obligation to take out a plan. We feel that it is a good thing that you have discussed things and your family know your wishes.
When you are ready simply contact us and we can finalise the plan and activate it.
Here are a list of common questions that families have had:
What if I change my mind?
If you cancel within 30 days they will refund the payment you have made. For details of cancellation terms after 30 days please see the Key Features and Terms & Conditions.
What happens if my funeral director goes out of business?
If that happens, we’ll contact you to discuss options to reallocate your plan to another funeral director near you.
What if I move to a different area?
Please let us know you are moving so we can update our records. You will have the option to move your plan to a different funeral director, if required.
What happens if I die before I've made all the payments?
This will depend on the type of payment method you have chosen. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions and Key Features for more information.
Can I transfer my plan to someone else?
For all payment options, except the fixed monthly payment option, you can transfer the benefit of the funeral services to a nominated family member or friend who dies before you. Where you pay by the low cost instalment option you can only transfer the benefit of the funeral services if the total cost has been paid. Any change of arrangements following such a transfer (for example, a change of address for the nominated family member leading to increased transportation costs) may mean that we have to appoint a different funeral director. It may also mean that you need to pay additional sums.
